Archers Baseball Set to Open 2018 Campaign

The St. Louis Community College Baseball team is set to open up action on 2018 season this weekend as the squad takes their annual trip to Baton Rouge, LA for four games.  STLCC opens action on Saturday afternoon against Alvin, with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 pm and follow that up with a 6:00 pm first pitch against the hosts from Baton Rouge Community College.  The Archers conclude their weekend with a 1:00 pm first pitch on Sunday against Baton Rouge and a 3:30 pm start against Copiah Lincoln, before returning home.  STLCC will open home play the following weekend, as they welcome Olive Harvey College to town with a four game series starting with a doubleheader on Saturday.

The Archers return Andrew Dupont in the outfield, the sophomore hit .308 last season, with an on base percentage of .431, while collecting 8 doubles.  Chase Jones returns behind the plate, where he hit .277 last season as does Jeff Huser who last year slugged .463 with 7 doubles, 5 triples and 3 homeruns, while knocking in 21 runs.  Two way players Jack Kane and Austin DesRoche also return, Kane last year hit .276 with 7 doubles, 7 homeruns and 29 rbi and went 2-0 on the mound in 6 appearances with an ERA of 2.25.  DesRoche hit .253 and drive in 15 runs.  On the mound the Archers return Connor Cline to the rotation, a year after posting a 3-4 record in 8 starts. 

STLCC is coming off of a 26-20 year last year.
