On a cold day, hits were few to come by and when they did they counted, as the Archers pushed past Marshalltown on Saturday afternoon, 7-4, on the Meramec campus. Jack Kane allowed one earned run in five innings pitched, while striking out eight hitters to move to 2-2 on the year. McGwire Dean notched two hits and scored a run, while Chase Jones belted the biggest hit of the day with a 2 run double to the gap in rightcenter to give the Archers some breathing room in the fifth inning at 7-3. Sam Lombard also had a RBI single to leftfield in the fifth inning. STLCC improves to 11-9 on the year and returns for two more games in Sunday, starting with an 11:00 am rematch vs. Milwaukee Area Technical College and ending the weekend with a 4:00 pm start with Marshalltown.
