The St. Louis Community College Baseball team got a much needed boost of confidence at the plate on Tuesday afternoon as they traveled to Wentworth Military Academy for a midweek doubleheader. The Archers returned to St. Louis with a sweep, winning the opener 12-1 and getting the shutout in the nightcap with a 16-0 victory.
Game 1
Joseph Manley picked up the win for STLCC, throwing 4 innings, and did not allow an earned run to go along with his 4 strikeouts. Andrew Dupont paced the offense with 3 hits, 2 rbi and 2 runs, while older brother Cole Dupont added 2 hits, including a double and an rbi. Kyle Stevens collected 2 hits, including a home run and 3 rbi in the victory.
Game 2
Jack Kane got the start on the mound in game 2 and allowed 1 hit over 4 innings, while striking out 4 Wentworth hitters. Cole Stamper, Stevens, Neil Fischer and Dustin Buckner each collected 2 hits, with Stamper adding a double, Stevens his second home run of the day and 2 rbi and Buckner gathering 3 rbi in the victory.
The Archers return to action on Thursday afternoon with a MCCAC and Region 16 doubleheader at Jefferson College, first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
