Martin Clayes To Lead Archers Men's Soccer Program

Martin Clayes is set to begin his first season as the head men's soccer coach at St. Louis Community College.   Clayes comes to St. Louis from Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he served as a director and coach for Tulsa Soccer Club.  While in Oklahoma, Clayes spent one season as the head coach at Bacone College, where he guided the team to a berth in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament in 2017 with a 12-8-1 Overall record. 

Clayes brings a wealth of collegiate experience to STLCC, including coaching stops at NCAA Division I, II and III programs as well the NAIA.  He was an assistant coach for the University of North Texas women's soccer program in 2014 & 2015, winning back to back conference regular season titles, a tournament title, and a NCAA tournament berth in 2015.   Prior to North Texas, Clayes was the head coach for Maritime College (NY) and Westminster College (MO).  At Westminster, Clayes guided the Blue Jays to a SLIAC conference regular season championship in 2011, earning Coach of the Year honors.   Clayes started his coaching career at Truman State University as both a men's and women's assistant coach.   He has also coached in the USL PDL league for the St. Louis Lions, the Chicago Fire, and with numerous youth clubs throughout the country. 

Martin received All-American honors as a student-athlete at Truman State University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.  He later attained his master's degree in Sports Science at the United States Sports Academy.  Clayes also holds a US Soccer Federation A License, which he earned in 2018.
